Including a dog in a wedding isn’t about whether they can attend. It’s about understanding how long they can remain comfortable, what will challenge them, and where their limits are likely to sit once the day begins to stretch.
Those limits are shaped by more than training alone. Breed tendencies, physical size, history, recovery time, tolerance to prolonged stimulation, and environmental factors such as temperature all play a role - particularly during warmer months, when heat can accumulate quietly and have a significant impact on comfort and regulation.
This service is shaped around that reality. Planning focuses on anticipation rather than reaction, allowing decisions to be made with clarity rather than pressure. The structure that follows exists to support those decisions, so care can remain steady, appropriate, and responsive as the day unfolds.

Others enjoy being part of things in smaller doses. Many sit somewhere in between, involved for as long as it feels comfortable for them.
Care adapts quietly as those needs change, allowing involvement to shift without pressure. Inclusion is shaped by comfort and wellbeing rather than duration or expectation, so each dog can remain part of the day in a way that feels supportive, respectful, and genuinely right for them.
What happens when you need more than the core service?
When more support is needed, care can be extended beyond the core service. This might include additional time, travel, or arrangements for more than one pet, helping dogs remain comfortable and settled while giving couples the freedom to focus on their day, knowing everything is being gently taken care of.

Evening Continuation
Care can continue into the evening, usually until the end of celebrations or midnight, supporting a calm and settled close to the day. This is typically provided at the wedding venue or the client’s home.

Licensed Transportation
All travel is conducted under a valid DEFRA Type 1 transport licence, with welfare-led handling and appropriate rest considerations built into every journey.
Additional Mileage
Travel beyond the included allocation is charged at £0.75 per mile, covering up to an additional 50 miles.
Extended Distance Bands
Mileage exceeding the additional 50 miles is charged within structured distance bands. These reflect the increased time commitment, vehicle use, and operational planning required for longer journeys.

Additional dogs are priced using a banded structure, which considers size, weight, and any practical or handling considerations. This ensures care can be delivered safely, comfortably, and effectively for all dogs involved.
Additional Cats
Additional cats are charged at a flat rate to reflect individual care, supervision, and routine management.

While the diary may show open dates, Hounds & Heritage accepts a capped number of weddings each year to ensure care remains personal, unhurried, and considered.
